THE GOODNESS OF GOD

God wanted Adam and Eve to show their love and obedience towards Him.
God gave Adam and Eve all that they could possibly have wanted, yet they wanted more! This act of direct disobedience resulted in the first humans throwing away everything God had given them for the one thing God had forbidden. Because of their disloyalty, a tragic event happened. They were now separated from God because of sin, and this act of disobedience was passed on to the whole human race!

All things that God gives us is good. There are hundreds of verses in the Bible about the goodness of God towards His creation. The only things that God forbids are those things that can hurt us. God as our creator knows what is the very best for us.

God has given us commandments to live by not because he is strict and cruel, but because he knows terrible things can happen to us if we would not have been warned. God also wants us to obey Him so he can truly bless us. His loving mercy still allows us to make our own choices. If a person chooses to disobey they will have to suffer the consequences and, sadly, leading others along with them. So often, people will neglect or forget about all the wonderful things God has given to us. Instead, they will deliberately choose the things that God has forbidden; thus, in the long run, they bring devastation on themselves because they did not listen. Remember, this is what happened to our first parents in the Garden of Eden.

To know the God of the universe is true freedom; "If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed" (John 8:36).
