CHAPER 3Chapter 3

WHO IS THE DEVIL?

Why should we learn about the devil or Satan? The Bible tells us not to be ignorant of Satan's devices or purposes. To be ignorant of something means not to know anything about it. If we know about Satan's devises or plans, then he cannot take advantage of us (2 Corinthians 2:11). This is good news!

Sometimes it is very important to know about something, than not to know about it.

For example, just say you are walking home in the dark, and there is a huge hole that you could fall in and hurt yourself and be unable to get out of it until someone finds you. If this would happen, it would be very scary to be hurt and alone in the dark. If you knew about this hole, you would either go home another way, or go far out around it, so there would not be any chance that you could possibly fall in. To know certain things about Satan is sort of the same way.

If you do not think Satan exists or you do not know anything about him, he could hurt you, and you would not even realize that it is him. If you do know about the personality of Satan and how he deceives people, you will learn to have your guard up and your armor on. His fiery darts will not be able to harm you when you trust in the Lord.

Have you ever wondered why there is so much evil, suffering, death, misery, and addictions in the world? The Bible teaches the reality of a personality named Satan or the devil.
